I knew I’d like the actual Crucifix from the pictures, and I wasn’t disappointed. My concern was the chain, which looked nice but you never know. With both the crucifix and the chain Ark & Armor exceeded my expectations. I’m ordering 6 more as gifts because the one I received is really that well made. This crucifix necklace is simple but perfect. Exactly what I wanted in rugged jewelry that can stand up to daily wear and tear. The length fits perfectly, and it feels very comfortable to wear. Looks great over and under shirts. Highly recommend. It shipped much sooner than I expected as well, so I was able to make it a 3rd class relic when some 1st and 2nd class relics were at my church.

The week before his birthday in 2024, my partner Michael told me he wanted m to pick out a cross or crucifix necklace for him. He said I know him best, and trusted that I would figure out how to choose the right one for him.
I really felt the weight of this responsibility. I am not as spiritually mature as Michael, and don’t understand everything about his Catholic faith. I have never bought jewelry for a man before, and I did not know what kind of necklace Michael would want since I had never seen him wear jewelry before.
I prayed every day over the next week for God to guide me to the right necklace, and to show me which one was the right one for Michael. I spent the next few days scouring website after website, trying to find something that spoke to me. Nothing did. I wanted the necklace to be beautiful, meaningful, and high quality — and that wherever I bought it from was in alignment with Michael’s values (made in the USA, handcrafted with love, and ideally made by Christians).
I decided to go somewhere in person, so I went to a Catholic bookstore. They had a catalog with dozens of options; but again, none of them were it. They all seemed so cookie cutter, without any love poured into them.
I spent hours looking at MORE websites. I looked up the meaning of different cross designs and tried to get a better understanding of what would fit Michael’s faith. I felt frustrated and overwhelmed, not finding anything that seemed like “it”. I saved links for some, including a bunch from the Catholic bookstore catalog, one made in Italy, and another made in the USA (by Ark & Armor). I decided to leave it alone for a few days and stop stressing about it. I continued to pray for answers.
A couple days went by and I started feeling like maybe I would just tell Michael on his birthday that I couldn’t decide, and he needed to help me. At the same time, I felt that would be me not living up to the task he had asked me to do.
Two days before his birthday, I decided to go over the ones I had saved a few days earlier and see if any of them still resonated. The first link I clicked was the Ark & Armor Crucifix necklace I had saved.
Suddenly, it looked more beautiful than I remembered. I scrolled down to read reviews and there I discovered the maker is Catholic, and a review that said “look no further - this is the high quality Catholic made necklace you’re looking for”. I felt like this was it — this was my sign. I had been looking for a cross necklace, thinking Michael wanted that rather than a crucifix. So I went back to his text messages and read, “a cross would be better unless there was a crucifix that really stands out or speaks to you and says this belongs on Michael”. I had my answer! I had been looking for a cross necklace, but this one spoke to me more than any of the crosses did.
I went back to the Ark & Armor website, finding that the crucifix also has the medal of St. Benedict on it. I researched St. Benedict, and found that his medal “symbolizes how prayer creates peace within ourselves and in our communities. Those who carry the St. Benedict medallion with them reject all evil and provide encouragement as we walk along God's path, with the Gospel as our guide and Him as our light.” - This made me think of how Michael lifts others up, and helps people heal.
As I mentioned, the Ark & Armor necklace is made in the USA. I learned that the maker is a small business owner who does everything himself. The About page of the website says, “Our mission is to help Catholic men overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil by equipping them with powerful reminders of Jesus Christ, His Blessed Mother Mary, and the saints in heaven.” - Now, that sounded aligned!
The Ark & Armor necklace and website felt like something authentic and Christ-like in a sea of materialistic websites that described cross necklaces as “stylish” and matching with any outfit. The necklace is simple, high quality, beautiful, and I could see Michael wearing it. The necklace’s page has a prayer, a lifetime warranty, and generous refund policy.
I think wearing a crucifix is a bolder statement of faith than a cross, and Michael is very serious in his faith and has the courage to wear a crucifix.
Knowing Michael, he doesn’t hide from the darker truths in life. They bring meaning to his life. I also know that the crucifix is a powerful symbol for Michael that reminds him of Christ’s love.
So that’s my very long story of how I chose to purchase this Ark & Armor crucifix necklace for my partner Michael!
It took a few weeks for the necklace to arrive, and I worried it might not be as beautiful as it looked in the photograph — but I needn’t have, as it was EVEN MORE beautiful in person than in the picture. And the best part: Michael absolutely loves it and feels I chose the perfect necklace for him.

I couldn’t be more happier with my purchase as I was very unsure at first as to what kind of chain style and length to get. St Christopher medal was the third men's endless chain necklace I ordered. The quality is outstanding. Given to a groom-to-be the night before his wedding, it was a perfect reminder of his confirmation patron. Previously I ordered a Miraculous Medal and a Crucifix as gifts for relatives.
